At DSD Interactive, our typical development process consists of four phases:

I. Exploratory Meeting

TalkFirst, we have an initial, no-charge/no-obligation exploratory meeting.

At this meeting, we do a lot of listening - our main goal is to understand what you are trying to accomplish with your project. We also explain how we will manage your project, structure our pricing, and suggest some initial, possible alternative solutions.

II. Functional Requirements Analysis and Documentation

PlanSecond, we will complete a formal requirements analysis.

To do this, we will have one or more meetings with your staff in order to identify and document your requirements for the proposed system.

These meetings are often held in our conference room around a white-board and flip chart. They usually start with you and your staff explaining your needs, and us trying to "flesh out" the requirements for the system based on those needs. Our clients tell us that we are very, very good at this!

The outcome/product of this phase a comprehensive site plan, much like the architectural plan needed to construct a building or house. (Download a sample Wireframe document)

III. Development and Deployment

DesignIn the third phase we develop a working version of of the site based on the site plan.

To do this, we first develop three (or more) design composites ("design comps") for the home page and one or more internal pages. (How are comps delivered?)

Using the site plan, and your chosen design, we then create the web pages for your site. At this point, we begin developing the application itself, by adding functionality to the web pages, step by step.

Key to our process: you will have the opportunity to see your application as it develops into its final form - and the opportunity to provide feedback at every step along the way.

IV. Ongoing Maintenance and Administration

BuildOnce your site is complete, we will always be available to make changes, add features and troubleshoot problems.

How Much Will It Cost?

Estimating the cost of a web site is a lot like estimating the cost of building a house.

What would you think of a bid for building a house that was made without a detailed architectural plan? We doubt you would take it seriously. The same is true for building web sites and web applications.

We can help you develop a detailed site plan - the equivalent of an architectural building plan - and use it to provide a highly accurate estimate for developing your site.

Example Project Pricing

Here are some example project prices that can help you estimate the cost of your project:

Basic business site - includes requirements analysis, graphic design, site plan, functionality for 5-10 "static" pages and a contact form.

Project Duration: 2-4 weeks.
Project Price: $3,000 - $7,500

Medium-sized, database-backed web application - includes all of the above plus database design and implementation, scripting for generating dynamic content.

Project Duration: 6 weeks +
Project Price: $7,500-$15,000

Large-scale, database backed, complex web application - all of the above on a larger scale, includes complex database structure and scripting, 4-6 functional modules.

Project Duration: 3-6 months
Project Price: $15,000-$50,000
